Max is three today. My sweet, sweet boy.
Max, who didn't really speak until he got tubes in his ears in December, now never shuts up. And the things he says are just priceless:
"Need medicine, Mama, OK?"
"Why?"
"Because I cranky."
"Mama, if you go potty, I give you a Nerd, OK?"
"Need orange plate, Mama. Orange my favowite color, OK?"
As evidenced above, he ends MANY of his sentences with, "OK?" and he is somewhat obsessed with determining the ownership of things. When I serve him a plate of food, he asks, "Dis mine?" about three times. Once he's FINALLY sure that it's his, he'll eat it. Unless he doesn't like it, in which case he'll say, "I no like dis soup/meat/dinner" and send it shooting across the table. He'd be a pretty good bartender, I think, because for all of the food he's sent flying, it never spills over.
Max is very much a boy's boy, and he loves his trucks and cars. We are celebrating his birthday on Saturday with a truck party, and when we asked him what he wanted as a present, he had many ideas, but all of them ended with "truck." Monster truck, dump truck, cement truck, jeep truck. Michael came up with the brilliant idea of pooling money from all of the grandparents and getting Max this baby. We still have to put it together and charge it, but stay tuned for some very funny video footage of Mr. Max on the go.
When people meet Max, they are always struck by how good-natured he is. He is happy to play with other kids, but he is just as happy to play on his own. And he usually sings to himself while doing so. He has a terrific sense of humor, and loves making silly faces like this:

It's all we can do sometimes to keep from smooshing him up and eating him whole. He's THAT cute.
Happy birthday little man!
(to which Max would reply, "I not little man, Mama. I little boy. OK?")

My three year old is totally in to toy trucks and cars too. The other day he went to a car show with me and had a blast. It's a dad thing.
