I love Costco. Here is why:
- It is 5 minutes from my house. SERIOUSLY. On Sunday, I got there, parked, realized I had forgotten my membership card, and was able to go home, get it, and be back in the parking lot in 10 minutes flat. Woot!
- They have cheap hot dogs that taste really good. I love hot dogs.
- They have great stuff there that I actually WANT, including:
- Organic ground beef
- Organic whole chickens
- Organic milk (3 half gallons for the price of 1 whole gallon elsewhere)
- Organic eggs (18 for the prize of a dozen elsewhere)
- These new baguettes that I am in love with. They come two to a pack, and in 3 varieties (regular, wheat and roasted garlic). They make killer garlic bread, and you can freeze the one you don't use. Perfect!
- Stonyfield Farm smoothies
- Seven for All Mankind Jeans!! Seriously! (and they are probably all gone now, but that was very cool)
- Essentials for daily life including pull-ups, Bounty paper towels, Kleenex and toilet paper (though I find it annoying that their generic toilet paper is all individually wrapped)
- Sabra Hummous
- Stacy's Pita Chips
- Giant bottles of Tellicherry black peppercorns
- And, of course, free samples. We all love those, right?
For more Costco goodness, check out this blog that my pal Mamacita alerted me to.
Our Costco is 25 minutes up the freeway (without traffic) and therefore completely inconvenient. A couple of years ago, when my local grocery store started selling big boxes of diapers, I gave up my membership. Of course, that's before Costco started carrying many of the things you mention here (organic stuff, particularly).
I went with my mom a few weeks back to get her a flat-screen tv and thought again about renewing my membership. Maybe...

Totally with you on all this -- except haven't tried the hummus. Next time. And designer jeans? Who knew? I also buy the six pack of Pacific Organic Chicken Broth --a good deal. And I buy a gigantic piece of parmigiano reggiano because it is something one always needs to have around. I could go on (but I will spare you!).

Wow Costco sounds like Mecca. It's sad to say but I've never been. In Wisconsin, we have Sam's Club, which I do not believe sells Seven jeans. Awesome. Hummus and designer jeans, what more could one ask for?

You can get the Seven jeans at Costco online if they don't have them in your local store, by the way. Costco online has lots of other designer items, including purses, sunglasses, and clothing too of course.
I could go on & on about the reasons to love Costco but I don't want to seem obsessive.

I had no idea that Costco carried anything organic. I have a B.J.'s 5 minutes from my house but only use it for toilet paper and paper towels. Sounds like Costco is much better.
