I have been thinking about posting a little weekly update about our lives. As I try to balance out the food and mom content on the site, it seems like a good way to do that. What do you guys think?
Anyway, here's a small bit of what's going on.
- Michael and I are leaving for DC this afternoon. (Actually, we are now at the executive club in the airport, and I'm typing this while enjoying a rum and coke.) We are going to the wedding celebration of an old friend. Paty, our au pair, was supposed to stay with the kids, but (REALLY long story short) she told us yesterday that she had some "conflicts," so Michael's sister Megen is on her way up from Louisville to take the reigns. Thank goodness for family.
- Dylan is absolutely obsessed these days with drawing portraits. The one you see here is of a guy named, "Doom." He has a nose ring and some face tattoos. And what appears to be a rubber duckie on his shirt. I bought her a huge binder at Costco last weekend along with a three hole punch. She is very busy filling it with her masterpieces. She calls it her "fashion book."
- Max is talking so much more since his tube surgery, though we are now working on some pretty major pronunciation issues. He will finally repeat anything we ask him too, but it's nearly impossible for anyone but us to discern what he's actually saying. For example, when we read his Things That Go book and I say "Big Excavator," he says "Tig teh tah taa tooor." Needless to say, I left Megen a Max glossary to help her out this weekend. Among the entries? Instead of "sit," he says "tit." And he usually says it quite loudly.
That's all for now. I have plans to have brunch tomorrow with some VERY fabulous ladies, so I hope to post an update after that.

I like the personal updates, myself. I was wondering how Max was doing, and how the au pair was working out. Dylan's Fashion Book is too awesome -- it's going to be a real treasure one day.

Glad to hear Max's speech is already improving. It will probably take a while for s, f, sh, and ch sounds to be clear. But have faith...it will happen! My little guy has improved so much in the last few months.
We're traveling to the DC area this weekend to visit family. But we live in VA, so it's not a far trip.

I love the personal info too! Have fun this weekend. I'm going to steal the 3-ring binder idea. My youngest two would love it!
