I'm totally stuck. I haven't unpacked a thing since last week. The playroom is not playable. There are still boxes in our upstairs hallway. I just finished working now (at 10:46), so nothing will get done tonight. Again.
I need this house to be set up, but I just can't get myself motivated to do it. It's making me miserable.
Aside from kidnapping my sister-in-law from Louisville and dragging her back here to help me finish, what can I do???
Do you know any high schoolers or college kids who you can pay to come over and help out? Just turn them loose in the playroom for a few hours and see what they come up with...could be fun for all of you!

I'm probably the last person who should give advice on motivation, as I so frequently lack it. Anyway, I find that the problem is usually that I haven't broken the task down into small enough chunks. It's just much easier to motivate myself if there is an end in sight. So do as I say, not as I do: try breaking up the unpacking into smaller bits of work and see if that helps.

Pick a box, and dump it on the floor, don't leave the room until all the items in the box have a home,

I usually schedule a party about six weeks after moving in. This gives me a deadline for the unpacking. I've often had a "stuff room" for a while after that date, but tried to have the place presentable for guests to look around by the party date.
